Small Rebellions

SMALL REBELLIONS

Small Rebellions are simple, fun and often random things I do on the days I’m unable to complete a challenge. This page will be updated often.

On my way to Spokane, WA to visit friends this weekend I stopped at a gas station to buy lots of candy!

I hope I’ll be forgiven for not being around much lately. I haven’t been feeling well at all, and I’ve found it’s hard to rebel even in small ways when you’re ill. So I haven’t really done anything these past few days, but I hope to feel better soon!

I brought my smiley face umbrella to church today. A few people commented that it suits my personality.

Tonight I watched Disney’s “Camp Rock” starring the Jonas Brothers. Not sure if that was childlike… just completely adolescent of me πŸ™‚

Friday, May 20, 2011

This evening I went to Sugarhouse Park, swung on the swings and played “Pooh Sticks” with some friends. I lost both times we played 😦

I found myself alone at the office again today. My job here will be coming to an end soon and I’ll begin full-time at the job I just scored. I feel it’s only appropriate to leave some lasting memories. My boss once bought these little pins that either say “alpha” or “beta” on them. She half jokingly told us to use them, pinning one on to indicate whether that day we felt more like an “alpha” or “beta.” As far as I know, no one has ever used them. Well, tonight I pinned the “beta” pin on my boss’s chair and the “alpha” pin on her assistant’s chair. Maybe you need to know these people to understand why that’s funny, but just trust me – it IS!

I was the last person in my office this evening. After everyone left, I rearranged the magnetic letters on the file cabinet to say “AMY LOVES U”. I wonder who will see it first tomorrow…

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Tonight I watched “Paul Blart: Mall Cop.” Hi-LAR-i-ous!!

Friday, May 13, 2011

When I got home from work tonight at about 9:00, I found a packet of Rocky Mountain Hot Cocoa waiting for me on my pillow. Oh, that sister Stacey of mine loves me! So even thought today was beautifully in the high 70’s, I made me some hot chocolate before bed!

This evening I gave an impromptu concert… I was teaching a training class to child care providers who all know I like to sing. They wouldn’t leave class at the end until I sang for them. So I took a request and sand “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

Today I spent a whole hour playing Chicktionary, and my current high score is well over 500,000. Beat that, sucka! πŸ˜‰

Happy Mother’s Day! Today I ate cake batter ice creamΒ  with chocolate fudge Magic Shell on top for LUNCH!!

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Today I went to Barnes and Noble to buy the newest book in the Kane Chronicles series. I’m a Barnes and Noble member, so I automatically get 10% off everything I buy. I also had a coupon for an extra 30% off on top of that. Then when I got to the store, the book had a sticker on it that said it was 20% off. So I got a brand new hardcover book for 60% off, which came to about $8.00! Woo-hoo!

Since it’s Cinco de Mayo, my boss and I went to Cafe Rio for lunch! Ole!

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Today is Star Wars Day (may the FOURTH be with you) and I really wanted my small rebellion to have something to do with that, like perhaps sneak over to my parents house and “borrow” my step-dad’s original trilogy on VHS (it’s a collector’s item because it’s original, no random cgi added!). But I can’t find my key. Drat! Oh well.

But I watched the most recent episode of The Biggest Loser and it was “make-over week” which is one of the best weeks to watch! While the contestants got made over, I painted my toenails silver and ate Easter candy. (I also cried like a baby, which I have a tendency to do when I watch BL.)

Monday, May 2, 2011

Today I wrote obscure movie quotes from obscure movies on some of my friends’ facebook walls. Each quote was specific to each friend. Pretty much, only they will get their quote πŸ™‚ I.e. “Monkey hatchet.” I bet you don’t know!

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Today I quoted lines from “The Sandlot” with my sister rather loudly in the parking lot of my apartment complex.

This morning, I blew bubbles in my chocolate milk πŸ™‚

Today’s small rebellion took me by surprise. I hadn’t planned on doing it at all. In fact, all morning I kept thinking “maybe I’ll do this, or perhaps I’ll that.” But what happened is this. Since my sister and nephew were leaving for home today, we went to lunch with my parents. Holly hasn’t had In-N-Out since her last trip to California, and now we have quite a handful in Utah. So that’s where we went. I ordered my food from the bubbliest, smiliest cashier I’d ever met! I was already in a pretty good mood, but the cashier’s happiness rubbed off even more. I got my order number and headed over to the table my mom had saved for us. About halfway there I realized that I wasn’t walking – I was skipping! There were a lot of people around, but it didn’t bother me at all. And I love the fact that I did it without planning it or even deciding it. I just skipped! It was lovely!

In Jason’s book “Escape Adulthood”, he suggests singing “On Top of Spaghetti” in front of the mirror while naked. Tonight as I was changing into my pj’s, I decided to try this. I felt very foolish, but then I was like “so? no one can see me?” And maybe the neighbors next door could hear me, but I didn’t care about that either. It was funny! I think everyone should try it!

Sunday,Β  April 24, 2011

Today I took a plastic Easter egg filled with jelly beans to church and ate them one by one during Sunday School. I got a few puzzled looks, but most people just smiled πŸ™‚

Today my sister and nephew were taking a nap and I had other things to do, like homework and housework. I began doing those things, but then I became tired as well. My mind was like “just take a nap, it’ll be fun!” But deep down I knew that, no, it wouldn’t be fun at all. I feel like I’ve been so lazy lately and I was sick of just lazing around my apartment. It’s a beautiful day today here in Salt Lake City, and I had just received my runner’s package for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, so I decided to go for a little run. I knew it would invigorate my mind, and it did. It was nice to be outside as well. My body is still in recovery mode from the half marathon last weekend, but I did 2 miles and now I’m ready to conquer whatever else the day has in store!

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I went to Barnes and Noble and spent the majority of my time there perusing the Eric Carle section, namely opening and closing “The Very Quiet Cricket” to hear the cricket noise over and over again. I love Eric Carle’s books! I have “The Grouchy Ladybug,” “The Very Busy Spider,” “Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?” and I’m getting “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” for Easter! Yay!

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Today instead of doing homework, I played with my 5 1/2 month old nephew Dylan. I just recently met this little guy, and once he goes back to Virginia next week, I don’t know when I’ll get to see him again. So playing with him became a priority and homework did not. He threw up on me twice! Most enjoyable small rebellion thus far!

Sunday, April 17, 2011

Today’s small rebellion wasn’t much, really. The bottom half of me is still super sore from yesterday’s race. I’m pretty much only comfortable laying down. Anyway, my parents came over to have dinner with two of my sisters, one nephew, and me. Before they left, Holly and I gave Mommy our Easter baskets and a letter for the Easter Bunny. I spelled it phonetically as follows:

“Deer Eester Bunee,

I wuz reely good so far, but that’s becuz it’s onlee Aprul. Pleez breeng me starberst jelle beens, Reesis penut butr egs, sum darck choklit, tinee cadbree egs, and holly wants stuf that’s not chocklit to. Just see wut yoo can doo, ok? Thanck yoo!

P.S. Stacey wonts big cadbree egs, m and mz plaen or penut butr or both. But onlee if she wuz good too.”

Teeheehee!

I showed up at my office just in time for a meeting with my boss. She needed to meet with a coworker of mine before meeting with me, so I had to wait. I didn’t bring any work with me to do, so I looked around me. What to do? Well, my office chair swivels. So I spun around in my office chair several times until I got dizzy and sick to my tummy. Totally felt like a kid on the Teacups at Disneyland! It made the 34 minute wait much more enjoyable πŸ™‚

  2. Yeah, sorry about that wait…glad to know you made yourself useful and sick. Sometimes an employee just needs a good reaming and it can’t wait. Thanks for understanding….
